Ocongate is situated deep in the Andes Mountains, at an altitude of more than 4,700m. Each year the famous ice festival ‘Q’oullur Rit’I or ‘Star Snow’ takes place, which involves the indigenous Quechua inhabitants celebrating the return of Pleiades. The Ocongate region is home to several talented communities who specialise in both back strap and stand up loom weaving. They are also known for their elaborate beadwork on the "chullo" hats .These techniques have been inherited and passed down through generations of the Ocongate community and we like to think we are also helping to keep it kept alive with the work we provide the community.
