The remote hand knitting and hand weaving (backstap loom) communities of Huancavelica are located in one of the poorest and most remote, yet most beautiful, regions of the Andes Mountains. They represent a rich link to their cultural heritage. Huancavelica is renowned for its textiles and its traditional woven and knit designs . We have a strong, long-standing relationship with many of the communities in this area and try to ensure that they are provided with a continuous flow of employment which enables them to demonstrate their undoubted skills.
Sometimes we bring some of the artisans to Lima to finish complicated shoe or bag designs as shown in the photo here.
