This particular social project involves three remote communities who are situated at over 4000m in the heart of the Andes Mountains several hours away from Juliaca . Their skills have been honed through years of dedication, patience, and taking the time to get the product to the right standard. These Quechua ladies produce hand spun yarn of the highest quality.
Working directly with these three communities provides ITV Peru the opportunity to produce its own custom mixes of the highest quality hand spun yarns created in a variety of widths, colours and mélanges. We can also now offer a unique service of designer yarn to our clients, which can be produced on the spot by these ladies. (Please note this will require extra time for development.)
An important feature of ITV Peru’s approach and its engagement with the social project is not only to ensure that the finest quality alpaca yarn is produced, but also that the enterprise serves to strengthen the local community.
