The Tacabamba community is renowned for its extraordinary ‘ikat “weaving techniques, which originated in pre-Inca times. The technique is extremely complex with the design being woven in the warp as opposed to the weft. This fascinating technique has almost disappeared apart from a few remote communities in the Northern Sierra who continue to use this ancient ancestral technique . We are very proud to have been able collaborate with the Tacabamba ikat weaving community and have been employing their skills for a number of our clients since 2014 . Our collaborations with this community have encouraged the younger generation to learn and to experiment with this ancient weaving technique.
