Huamachuco

Huamachuco has been a well recognised weaving community for centuries. This is where the Incas wove their ceremonial clothes The discovery of weaving tools during local archeological excavations, attests to the importance of textiles during pre incaic times.. We first became involved with this community through ADEX (Peruvian Export Association) who employed our skills to evaluate the quality of weaving and hand knitting to establish whether it was of an export quality standard.

We have been collaborating with this weaving community in Huamachuco for around 5 years, which has resulted in a very strong relationship, and during this time they have been continuously employed. Following visits with two clients to the Huamachuco community, work started immediately on their projects.

There are numerous hand knitting and hand spinning yarn communities within the Huamachuco region who we continue to employ on a variety of projects for our clients.
